CASE STUDIES
Willow’s Story
Willow, a cheerful blonde Labrador with a love for beaches and swimming, was tragically hit by a car at Muriwai Beach during one of her regular outings. The accident left her with a severe brachial plexus injury – damage to the crucial bundle of nerves beneath the shoulder blade responsible for forelimb use. Sadly, these injuries often result in amputation, but Willow’s story took a different path.
Willow began rehabilitation with our team, starting focus shockwave (soundwave therapy) and laser therapy to assist with nerve and soft tissue healing and mobility work to reduce pain and inflammation. As she grew stronger, her activity and strengthening exercises we slowly increased to build up her strength and confidence.
It was incredible to watch Willow’s resilience and her owner’s unwavering dedication. Over the months, she steadily regained function, confidence, and joy.
Today, Willow is thriving – living life as a “normal” dog once again, competing successfully in obedience and mobility competitions, and most importantly, enjoying every moment as a happy, healthy girl.
